For the first time in NBA history, two MVP point guards matched up and went at it. Yes, that stat is real, of course, unless you consider Allen Iverson a point guard. Bob Cousy and Oscar Robertson never matched up after they won the MVP award and they were actually teammates at one point in their careers. Steve Nash never went up against Derrick Rose after Rose won the MVP award in 2011. Yes, Derrick Rose and Stephen Curry have matched up before but this is their first meeting after Curry was awarded the NBA MVP.
Stephen Curry is fresh off his MVP season and Derrick Rose is healthy, for once, so the matchup was highly anticipated between the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls.
Sure, Derrick Rose performed better than Stephen Curry did on the night but when all was said and done, Curry’s Warriors came out on top with a big road win.
Derrick Rose dropped 29 points on the night shooting 12-22 from the field in a performance that had many wondering where this guy has been for the last few years. Stephen Curry scored 25 points on 8-18 shooting, 3-9 shooting from three-point range and he also handed out 11 assists while grabbing seven rebounds.
The Warriors defeated the Bulls, 125-94 in a game that was never close but it was fun to see these two point guard duel.
