Stephen Curry came out trying to prove that last year was no fluke by any stretch of the imagination. He came out on fire to start the game, scoring 24 points in the first quarter for the Warriors right after the team had their championship ring ceremony and unveiled the new banner.
Curry went 9-13 in the first quarter, shooting 4-7 from three-point range playing the entire first quarter. In total, Curry played 36 minutes, shot 14-26 from the field including 5-12 from three with seven assists and six rebounds. Fellow MVP candidate from last year, Anthony Davis, struggled on the night scoring 18 points but shooting 4-20 from the field, 10-15 from the free throw line and only grabbing six rebounds in 35 minutes of play.
The reigning league MVP might have performed so well due to the fact that the Dubs got their NBA Championship rings right before the game started against the Pelicans.
And, of course, the Warriors showed off their ‘really big rings’.
Another view of the #warriors singing "Big Rings", with their really big rings!
