Kevin Martin comes around a screen, hits a free throw line jumper and then its 102-101 with 39 seconds left.
Miami Heat ball and they still have 2 chances to win this game against the Timberwolves on the road in Minnesota after squandering a lead late in the Fourth.
Then. Quite possibly the silliest play this season happened.
This will be on #ShaqtinAFool during ‘Inside The NBA‘.
Norris Cole gets the ball, steps out of bounds to inbound it, he gives it to Hassan Whiteside, tells the young and inexperienced Whiteside to step out of bounds to inbound it back to him. Cole then PASSES IT TO WHITESIDE, WHO IS OUT OF BOUNDS. So yes, basically Norris Cole and Hassan Whiteside just passed it to each other, for no reason.
But when he flipped the ball from behind the baseline to Hassan Whiteside, Cole technically inbounded it. So, by giving it back to Whiteside out of bounds, it was a turnover.
The turnover was scored as Whiteside’s and yes, he should have also known better, but Cole was directing the action.
Why Cole didn’t want to push the ball up after Whiteside gave it back to him, I have no clue. Usually if there is an inbound violation, the referee will stop play and make sure you do it right.
There wasn’t an inbound violation, they did it right. Until the end.
And to add a cherry on top, guess what the final score was.
If you guessed 102-101, you either watched the T-Wolves beat the Heat or you’re just a great guesser.
