Starting at about the 1:07 mark, Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook talks to CBS News’s Vladimir Duthiers on “CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood” about one of his pregame rituals.
Rituals to most players can simple things like getting to the gym way early to put up shots, parking in the same spot for home games or even listening to the same song before a game but for the seemingly always angry and animated Russell Westbrook he like to do one thing in particular.
Call his parents.
Yes, the man who tends to embarrass the media from time to time, the guy who throws down ferocious dunks whenever he can and the same dude that seems to always have a mean look on his face, has to call his parents before his games. Literally, he has to and he does all he can to get in touch with them because he won’t stop until he reaches them.
It’s nice to see a guy like Westbrook, who many people want to crown as a villain, actually is human and does some nice things for those who mean the most. His family.
