Russell Westbrook had one of the best games of his career on Wednesday. The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard led his team to a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers with a well-rounded and career effort.
Westbrook dropped a monster triple-double in the win with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and a career-high 20 assists. In addition to those numbers, Westbrook played a highly efficient game shooting 9-15 from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line.
Westbrook’s triple-double put him in elite company with only the third instance of a 25-20-11 game since at least 1983-84. The previous two instances were both completed by Los Angeles Lakers’ legend Magic Johnson.
The effort was Westbrook’s 11th triple-double of the season, tying him for the league lead with the Warriors’ Draymond Green.
On top of the individual effort, Russ can be happy with the results. With the Clippers breathing down OKC’s back, the win was ever crucial for the fight for the third seed in the Western Conference. That is an ever important position as the team that wins that spot avoid the Warriors until a potential matchup in the Western Conference Finals.
Russell Westbrook did his part to ensure that team would be the Oklahoma City Thunder.
