Oklahoma City Thunder have a chance to be the first team since the Boston Celtics in the 1950’s to have back to back MVP winners. It’s weird how this could happen though because in a strange twist of fate, Kevin Durant wouldn’t have won it last year if Russell Westbrook didn’t miss time and now this year, Russell Westbrook wouldn’t be a top nominee if Kevin Durant wasn’t injured for the majority of the season.
Oh, how the tables have turned.
Westbrook’s triple-double last night came against the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks. Westbrook dropped dimes, grabbed rebounds and scored at will to lead his Thunder to a much-needed victory to improve their record in the Western Conference playoff picture. He’s getting these triple-doubles a lot recently and if he wants to get into the playoffs, whether it be with the Durant and Ibaka or not, he will have to add a few more games like this to his resume.
