Memphis Grizzlies visited the Golden State Warriors last night as they fought for seeding the Western Conference Playoff standings. The game quickly got out of hand thanks to Klay Thompson and his insane second quarter when he dropped 26 points in that quarter alone to go off for 42 on the night.
As quickly as it went up for the Warriors, the Grizzlies went way down by 30. That meant it was time to get a look at some other talent to see what they can do.
Insert the rookie Russ Smith and the Grizzlies bench.
A Warriors lead that was once 30 got cut down to 4 at one point with under 1 minute to go thanks to Smith and some of the other young Grizzlies like JaMychal Green and Jordan Adams.
Smith played only 10 minutes but dropped 16 points on 5-8 shooting along with 5-5 from the free throw line. Smith also handed out 4 assists on the night but the most amazing stat was something that no one sees at first glance.
Smith and Thompson tied for the highest +/- on the night at +25.
Great stuff by Smith going forward into the NBA Playoffs. Hopefully the kid from New York can get some solid playing time for the Grizzlies in the postseason.
