As Anath Pandian of CBS Sports’ Eye on Basketball accurately pointed out, Toronto Raptors big man had some struggles last night. “Jonas Valanciunas shoots a solid 57% from the field but unfortunately his shooting percentage for putting his mouth guard in a cup is quite low.”
That’s very accurate actually. It appears Jonas’ percentage in ‘close range mouth guard cup making’ might be 0. He should be proud of his performance though, he did shoot almost 43% from the field in last night’s Raptors win over the Orlando Magic.
The best part of this video is his teammate, Bruno Caboclo. The young Brazilian is sitting behind JV and smirking after he realizes what the big man is trying to do and how badly he’s struggling at it.
I wonder what the dude holding the cup was thinking? Does he go through this often, with players struggling to put their mouth guards in a cup? We should just be happy Jonas didn’t go the route Enes Kanter went earlier this year. Kanter famously chucked his mouth guard into the stands right to a fan who proudly caught it.
Always be you, Jonas. Keep practicing those close cup shots.
