San Antonio and their coach Gregg Popovich are habitual abusers of allowing their players to stay home and rest. Granted, their 3 biggest stars are all over the age 30 so a little rest would help. Their coach took a sabbatical as well but recently at a preseason game for the Spurs against the Phoenix Suns owner, Robert Sarver, apologizes to the fans for the lack of San Antonio star power and says he will send them a gift for coming to the game.

There’s two ways to look at this. One is to understand where Sarver is coming from. He wants to give his fans the best show possible and when top tier players don’t play, not due to injury but due to just not coming, of course he’s going to be upset. The other is to realize it’s an exhibition game. It doesn’t count for anything and just about every fan there knew that as well.
Now if this happens during the regular season, I can’t wait to see what he says then.
