The Indiana Pacers have completely changed the dynamic of their team. In the last few seasons, they have been a bruising, defensive team that had difficulty putting the ball in the basket. This season, that has been far from the case. At the center of that change in philosophy has been star forward Paul George.
Coming off of a season where he hardly played due to a broken leg, George has been nothing short of phenomenal. The small forward has led his Pacers team to a shared hold of the Eastern Conference’s top seed early in the season. On Saturday, he showcased his MVP-level play once again. In an overtime loss to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City, George scored a career-high 48 points on 15-27 shooting, including an incredible 8-11 from the three point line.
If not for a guy by the name of Steph Curry, George would firmly be placed at the top of MVP rankings through the first quarter of the season. Seeing him perform at this level after a gruesome injury is certainly a great sight for Pacers and NBA fans alike.
