Pau Gasol and the Chicago Bulls ended up laying waste to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6 of their first-round match up, but the next round poses the biggest individual challenge in the league: LeBron James.
This will be Gasol’s first time facing LeBron in the postseason as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Bulls have had run-ins with LeBron in recent years when he was with the Miami Heat. This is a different Bulls team, especially with the likes of Gasol, this version of Jimmy Butler, and a guy like Nikola Mirotic. Defending LeBron is something Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau is very used to, even going back to his days as Doc River’s assistant in Boston. Pau says all of the right things to the media in reference to defending LeBron, which is always a five-man team effort.
The Bulls have a new advantage in being able to score the ball, but against the Cavaliers, executing defensively will have to be the priority.
