Kevin Durant’s, “You the real MVP” acceptance speech will go down as one of the best ever. That phrase will always be attributed to Durant’s emotional speech when accepting the 2013-2014 NBA Most Valuable Player Award where he addressed every one of his teammates and dubbed his mother as the real MVP.
Durant won’t be in uniform for OKC for some time, but what better way for fans to honor their MVP than with this video, which reads at the end, “KD is OKC”. It’s a brilliant, chilling video of fans of different ages and colors reciting Durant’s speech word-for-word. It represents Oklahoma City’s bond with Durant, which they’re hoping won’t be severed by the impending possibilities of free agency in 2016.
