Denver Nuggets rookie Emmanuel Mudiay was a trendy pick to win the MVP award at the 2016 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge in Toronto. The kid from the Democratic Republic of Congo played for Team World and he put on a show on a big stage for the first time this season.
The Nuggets haven’t been the sexiest team in the NBA this season but they do have some exciting young players like Mudiay and fellow 2016 All-Star Weekend participant Will Barton leading the way for their future.
The future of the Nuggets and their top pick in the 2015 NBA Draft had full reign to completely go nuts in the Rising Stars Challenge. Mudiay played 25 minutes, dropped 30 points on 12-20 shooting going 5-10 from the three point line and he also handed out 10 assists for the game including one nasty dump off to Kristaps Porzingis for a slam. At the end of the day, Team USA came out with the win over Mudiay and Team World.
