Memphis Grizzlies have a fantastic team this year. From top to bottom they’re entertaining and fun to watch. It began at the start of the season with Grizzlies in surprising and controversial fashion beating the Sacramento Kings. Then there’s Tony Allen with some interesting dance moves, a trade bringing in a new wing player and above all else, there’s the big 3 Memphis with Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Mike Conley leading the way to some great play.
Then there’s ever awkward yet funny, ‘Tiny Lee’.
This video just exudes awkward. I guess it has some sort of a historical equal as found out by Dan Devine of Yahoo! sports ‘Ball Don’t Lie’.
“Readers of a certain age will, of course, recognize “Tiny Lee” instantly as a very thinly veiled homage to the 1992 “Saturday Night Live” sketch “Tiny Elvis,” in which Nicolas Cage played a pint-sized version of Elvis Presley, which was also about nothing and also phenomenal:
I’m not entirely sure why the Grizzlies decided to film “Tiny Lee” in the first place, or why they decided to release it now. Maybe it’s a belated birthday shout-out to both Cage, who turned 51 on Jan. 7, and the King, who would have turned 80 on Jan. 8. Whatever the reason, though, I’m glad they did. And man, you’re right, Tiny Lee. That basketball is huge.”
You can just see Lee laughing at the end, which is great that he knows how ridiculous this might be. But, why Courtney Lee? Lucky him, This might be HUGE for his career. I could only imagine their pitch to the veteran guard.
