
All-Star power forward for the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzi, recently had some fun during practice when he raced against World Class marathoner, Meb Keflezighi.

Meb Keflezighi (b. May 5, 1975) is an American runner best known for his victory at the 2014 Boston Marathon. His victory made him the first American man to win the race in 31 years. Keflezighi also won the 2009 New York City Marathon; his victory there was the first American win since 1982. He also won the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials and was second at the 2004 marathon trials. At the Olympics, Keflezighi won the silver medal in the marathon in 2004 and finished fourth in the marathon in 2012.
Keflezighi was also an Olympian in 2000, at 10,000 meters; he placed 12th in the Olympic final. His 10,000-meter PR of 27:13.98 was the American record from 2001 to 2010.
Keflezighi was born in Eritrea. His family moved to California in 1987. He graduated from UCLA and became a U.S. citizen in 1998.
