The Detroit Pistons wanted to put the game out of reach for the Memphis Grizzlies and put in a layup to go up 94-90, but Zach Randolph had something to say about that. He forced Ersan Ilyasova into a bad shot, and Matt Barnes got the rebound.
You would think that Memphis would use one of their three timeouts as soon as Barnes got the rebound, but nope. Instead, Matt Barnes ran up the floor as fast as he could, and when he got to half-court, he heaved the ball towards the basket with three seconds left on the clock for a potential game-winning three.
If this shot misses, Barnes will be made fun of for making a dumb choice; fans will talk about this moment and laugh. Good thing for him though, as the shot found its way into the hoop, putting the Grizzlies up 93-92 with 1 second left. The Pistons would not score, and the Grizzlies won the game off of Barnes crazy, out of the ordinary shot.
Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol each had huge double-doubles in the Grizzlies win tonight. Randolph had 21 points and 16 rebounds, including 7 offensive rebounds. Gasol had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. The man of the hour, Matt Barnes, had 8 points off the bench tonight, and he pulled down 11 rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
Andre Drummond had another game where he filled the stat sheet, putting up 18 points, 19 rebounds (7 offensive), 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Reggie Jackson also pitched in with 18 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
After the win off of Barnes big shot, the Grizzlies will go home to play the Hornets on Friday. The Pistons will hit the road to take on the 76ers on Friday.
