For the second consecutive game, the Orlando Magic faced off with a formidable Western Conference team. For the second straight night, Orlando Magic rookie, Elfrid Payton, posted a triple-double.
While Payton’s streak is impressive, it’s nothing like what Russell Westbrook has done all season. Payton is the first rookie to get consecutive triple-doubles in his rookie year since Antoine Walker did it in 1996-97. Payton’s triple-doubles shouldn’t be with out recognition though, he did it going against some pretty tough competition with Rajon Rondo on the Mavs and last night against against Damian Lillard on the Blazers.
Payton has been impressive all year long and he is making his case for Rookie of the Year so Andrew Wiggins just doesn’t run away with it.
While it might be difficult for Payton to get the award, one thing is for sure, this kid is definetely and up and coming star in the NBA and partnered in the back court with the always exciting Victor Oladipo, we might be in for a magical show in Orlando for years to come.
