Lamar Odom has begun to pop up more frequently in the news once again, but this time for good reasons. Though it’s been a rough few years for Odom who has battled marital issues, drug addiction, and the death of his son and grandmother, it seems the ex-NBA champion is finally starting to turn things around.
Odom entered rehab early last December due to fears of himself relapsing from his sobriety. This came over a year after Odom went through that horrific 3-day alcohol and drug binge, putting himself into a coma. Odom successfully completed the 35-day rehab program that was laid out for him and checked out of the facility nearly two weeks ago. Now with his drug use behind him, Odom is on the right path and in a better state of mind. Today, Odom made an appearance on Doctors and opened up in an all-telling interview about his experience in rehab and his plan going forward.
One of the most powerful excerpts from the video above is when Odom says “The only place to go from where I was at is being dead, and I committed suicide enough already. I mean I wanna get high off of life now. I want to really feel how is it to live sober.”
Lamar Odom, who was once regarded as one of the best players off the bench in the entire NBA, seems to finally have gotten himself and his life together. You never want to see someone go down the path of drugs, especially to the point where they can’t control themselves, but seeing Odom in recovery and good spirits is certainly uplifting and proof you can overcome the biggest of obstacles. Now with his drug abuse seemingly in the past, Odom can now focus on the future, which may potentially hold a job in an NBA front office.
