Kyrie Irving made his season debut on Sunday. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard returned for his first game action since June, when he fractured his knee.
Irving played only 17 minutes in the Cavs’ blowout 108-86 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite being eased into action with a low minutes total, Irving did show he was ready to contribute to the tune of 12 points and 4 assists, including some vintage Kyrie moments.
The Cavaliers will be glad to have their point guard back as they look to regain their Finals form while also lowering some of the burden placed on forward LeBron James. In the meantime, they will likely continue to easy Irving in, in order to allow him to adjust to game speed after a long time away from competitive basketball.
