Kobe Bryant has not been out of the spotlight since his retirement at the conclusion of the regular season. The former Los Angeles Laker has made a few television appearances and starred in a few commercials. But while Bryant is performing in those appearances and starting the next stage of his career and life, he’s also taking some time to make some kids happy.
The occasion happened when a family posted an Instagram video of their son, Ayden, crying, having just missed out on meeting Kobe Bryant at an event in L.A. (h/t Bleacher Report)
Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, saw the video and helped organize a meeting between the child and his hero. The two seemed to become good friends with Kobe even helping the youngster get some shots up in the gym during a commercial shoot.
This is the part of the NBA that goes unheralded at times. Most of the players in the league, past and present, are heroes to young children. For a kid like Ayden to meet a legendary figure like Kobe is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something he will remember for a very long time.
Props to Kobe, and especially Vanessa Bryant, for helping make Ayden’s dream come true in big fashion.
