Klay Thompson was trying to do it again for everyone to enjoy. He was trying to have one of those huge quarters that no one would forget about. He dropped 37 in one-quarter this season already against the Sacramento Kings but it was different this time. This time it was going to be against one of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies.
Thompson took to the second quarter to do some major damage. Overall on the night, Klay dropped 42 on 15-20 shooting including 8-10 from three-point land and 4-4 from the free throw line but it was the second quarter that really broke this game open.
In the second quarter alone, Klay Thompson made 10 of 13 shots, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range. He was in such a groove that his teammates turned down open shots, and were risking turnovers to get him the ball at any chance they could. I mean, why not? They were already up 20 at that point. His teammates ran frantically around the court looking to get him the ball, while the announced sellout crowd at Oracle Arena of over 19,000 chanted his name for the entire quarter.
It might not have been 37 points but this was almost as good from Klay Thompson. Especially considering that the Warriors came out with a 111-107 win.
