
It was the highly anticipated return to Oklahoma City for Golden State Warriors new star Kevin Durant. Since he made the decision to depart OKC back in July, everyone waited for that first matchup back in the stadium that helped him become the star he is.
The weekend before the NBA All-Star Game, we finally got that return, and it was almost as good as advertised. Cupcakes and ‘Koward’ shirts were the themes of the night, stemming from a reported Russell Westbrook reference back in the summer and the fans let Durant know he was their new favorite baked good. Durant and his former All-Star teammate Russell Westbrook got into a little spat when the third quarter came around, and they exchanged some words at the start of a timeout. Russ told KD he was ‘coming’ for him, but Durant quickly reminded Westbrook that his team was losing by 20 at the time. Later on in the quarter, Durant also exchanged some words with another former teammate in Andre Roberson and the two even got nose to nose. It was indeed one of the most intriguing blowouts in a long time.

Durant finished with 34 points in the Warriors’ 130-114 victory over the Thunder, and he grabbed nine rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Russell Westbrook finished with 47 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and 11 turnovers in 37 minutes.
