The crowning jewel of the Golden State Warriors’ offseason was their signing of former NBA MVP Kevin Durant. The former scoring champion decided to join the Dubs over the summer and wanted to improve his chance at winning an NBA title. Unfortunately after one game, Durant the Warriors are already hearing it from the critics.
KD and the Warriors lost their first game of the season at home to Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs. It wasn’t just any regular loss, they got killed by 29 points on opening night. Of course, after the first game, the talking heads, hot take artists and borderline insane people were already questioning Durant’s move. And KD hears those critics.
The Warriors practiced ahead of their matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. Afterward, Durant spent some time to put up some extra shots and he was also doing something besides shooting. He was talking to himself and reciting those criticisms he’s been hearing.

When asked after his session about shouting criticisms, Durant explained, “That’s what I say to myself when I’m working. I hear it all the time. You hear the noise. You hear what they say about you. Everybody hears it. So it’s a little extra motivation when you hear it.”
Of the scene, Durant said, “Nobody in this arena right now, and that’s when you get better. Nobody sees you when you’re doing this stuff right here, but luckily y’all was in here watching.”
