The young Lakers have been one of the most surprising teams in the league thus far. Armed with a new head coach in Luke Walton, the young talent on the team has developed well and is starting to win some games.
Among the most improved young Lakers has been Julius Randle. The third-year power forward seems to be miles ahead of where he was this time last season. Thus far this season, the Kentucky product has averaged 13.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. The success has earned him many comparisons to Warriors’ forward Draymond Green.
All of those numbers will be going up after Tuesday night as Randle turned in arguably his best performance of the young season. The power forward registered his first triple double of the season and the second of his career, scoring 17 points (on 5-8 shooting) and adding 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a win against the Brooklyn Nets.
Randle turned in an excellent first quarter with five rebounds and seven assists and never looked back. At just 21 years old, Randle joined pretty exclusive company in Lakers’ lore.
