ESPN recently made a video short video about J.R. Smith and his friend, Special Olympian Brad Hennefer. J.R met Hennefer while golfing seven years ago, and ever since then, they have become the best of friends. Both athletes shared a passion for golf and basketball, and because of this, they quickly became friends. Brad was a die hard New York Knicks fan, but as soon as J.R. got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, he threw away all of his Knicks gear and bought Cavs apparel.
He goes to tons of Cavs game to watch J.R., and according to Brad’s mom, J.R. makes him feel good and loved. J.R. calls Brad his brother, and he makes him aware of all of the things that he does because he knows that Brad is watching. He plays to make Brad proud.
