In the Wizards dominating 101-87 win over the New York Knicks, John Wall managed to dish out a career high 18 assists. One of them came on this spin move by Wall, followed by a behind the back pass to the rolling Marcin Gortat. Gortat near the basket is exactly where the Wizards need him, and often sets up easy layups for the Polish Hammer.
The pick-and-roll has been working to perfection for the Wizards during their two game winning streak, and should be used by Randy Wittman’s squad the rest of the way. Some matchups may not be ideal for the strategy, but it seems to be the best offensive strategy for the Wizards at the moment. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, so Wittman better keep with this strategy until it stops working.
The layup gave Gortat 2 of his 19 points on the night, and gave John Wall yet another play to add to his highlight reel that we call Wizards basketball. It’ll be exciting to see if this duo can keep up what they have been doing over the past few games, and if the chemistry between the two can lead the Wizards deep into the playoffs.
