One of the two main card tag team matches during Wrestlemania 33 was the mixed tag match between real-life couples. WWE star John Cena and his girlfriend Nikki Bella took on The Miz and his wife Maryse. The match had an intense build up centered around some real life drama between Maryse and Nikki Bella stemming from issues on their ‘Total Divas’ show.
The match came and had a few good spots but ended with Cena and Bella hitting their finishing moves on The Miz and Maryse. Then as the defeated couple rolled out of the ring, John Cena took the mic and created a new Wrestlemania moment.
Following the engagement, Cena and Bella talked backstage about the engagement. It was reportedly something that has been planned for a while but the moment was still a nice shock to some, Nikki Bella included. She’s been hinting at a possible engagement on her ‘Total Bellas’ show.
The newly engaged couple joined the Today Show to talk about their engagement at the show of shows.
