If you thought it was joking, I indeed was not.
Iman Shumpert’s rap career is apparently as successful as his basketball career. What that may mean to you is up to your interpretation but Shumpert’s rhyming skills have never been better. He showcases his talents on his playoff anthem called ‘The Offs’.
Of course, the Cavaliers are in need of a playoff song for their postseason journey so there’s no better time for him to do this then right now, right at the beginning of the Cavaliers journey, which expects to be a long one.
As Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports ‘Eye on Basketball’ pointed out, Shumpert takes the time to shoutout every member of the team, from the coach all the way down to Anderson Varejao on the bench.
Here’s the breakdown:
Blatt – “Coach got that look in his eyes cause this playoffs.”
Love – “And Kevin Love is open.” (Perhaps his most unintentional hilarious rhyme.)
Kyrie Irving – “Off the ball screen with Uncle Drew.”
Timofey Mozgov – “Watch your head for Mozzy.”
Tristan Thompson – “Double T off the alley-oop.”
J.R. Smith – “Late shot clock hit Swish up for the 9-1-1.”
James Jones and Mike Miller – “Champ and Killah got the jury and the rachets on ’em.”
Matthew Dellavedova – “Delly is the man.”
Shawn Marion – “Trix get it crackin’ on ’em.”
Kendrick Perkins and Brendan Haywood – “Perk and Hay are the O.Gs.”
Joe Harris – “Joe Joe for the three.”
LeBron James – “It’s so easy to get open when you run with the King.”
Himself – “I’m one of the most wanted thieves in the league.”
Anderson Varejao – “Andy is suited.”
