Hassan Whiteside has only played two years in the league both in Sacramento who drafted him in the second round in the 2010 NBA draft. Whiteside’s contract ended prior to the 2011-2012 season where he only played in 18 games averaging not even two points. This off-season Whiteside joined a Miami Heat team that needed some big moves after the departure of LeBron and Hassan Whiteside may have been the best under the radar move for them. Whiteside in his last 10 games is averaging 9.9 points and 8.5 rebounds pretty good for a player who couldn’t even see the floor in his time in Sacramento.
In Whiteside’s post game interview you can just hear the determination in his voice, and how he wants to go out there and prove teams wrong that he does belong in this league. The Miami Heat might’ve found themselves a diamond in the rough, but he’s clearly still developing. In the month of January Whiteside is averaging 13 points per game and 10 rebounds, and he has now taken over the starting Center position for Miami. The Miami Heats next game is tonight against his former team The Sacramento Kings which is a tall order facing DeMarcus Cousins, but we will all see how truly hungry Hassan Whiteside is.
