Hassan Whiteside has been a stat-sheet stuffer since his rise to fame last season. The Miami Heat center has become a star in a short time due to some insane statistics.
Whiteside did it once again in a comeback win over the Denver Nuggets. He recorded another triple double in leading the team without Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade. Whiteside put up a cool 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocks – video game like numbers.
Whiteside has not always shown the effort or commitment to become a truly great player. He drifts in and out of games and does not always play smartly. But when he puts it all together, as he did on Friday night, it’s difficult to argue that he is one of the best players at his position. He has all the physical tools and natural instincts to become a truly great player. If he can focus in doing that consistently, Whiteside can find himself consistently mentioned along the elite players in the NBA. He showed on Friday that he has a chance to do just that.
