Wrestlemania 33 lived up to its tagline as ‘The Ultimate Thrill Ride.’ The WWE’s marquee show of the year, Wrestlemania, went off seemingly without a hitch and in the roller coaster that is professional wrestling, the point that piqued the interest of just about everyone was the shocking return of ‘The Hardy Boyz.’
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy have not been on WWE television since 2010 and 2009 respectively. They’ve spent the better part of the last few years developing a new ‘broken’ gimmick mostly on the TNA promotion and elsewhere around the world. When the rumors of their return began to circulate over the last week, everyone knew something was coming during Wrestlemania weekend. We just didn’t know when, until the Wrestlemania hosts ‘The New Day’ made an announcement.
Team Extreme did return, looking a tad bit older and Matt Hardy had a noticeable streak in his hair, but that’s all a part of this new ‘Broken’ gimmick he does with his brother. It’s something fans hope he will continue as they return to the company.
By the time the match was over, the Hardy Boyz came away with the WWE Raw Tag Tem titles. It’s their first Wrestlemania win as a tag team, and the seventh time the duo will hold the belts in the WWE. It also marks the third tag team titles they won in the last month alone after they also captured the TNA and Ring of Honor Tag Team belts back in March.
