After scoring 27 points, George Hill was given the task of taking the last shot, a layup off of a pick and roll play. There seemed to be a defensive communication, as Nene did not hedge hard enough, and eventually gave up a wide open lane to Hill. The basket ended up winning the game for the Pacers, and gave Hill his 28th and 29th points of the night.
The basket gave the Wizards their fourth straight loss after they had won the previous five, while the Pacers ended their six game losing streak. Washington is now two games back of the Raptors for the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, and Indiana is tied with Boston for the 8th seed.
Both of these teams could be playoff teams, and are going to need players to step up and make big shots such as George Hill did last night. Big time players make big time plays, and if those plays can be made in big time moments, those players will be the ones hoisting a trophy at the end of the season.
