Things got a bit chippy during the first half of game 3 between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was a pretty tightly contested first half, and the players began to get frustrated. The frustrations led to a small scuffle in the second quarter between LeBron James, Jae Crowder, and J.R. Smith.
This scuffle wasn’t anything too major, but J.R. Smith was issued a technical foul for shoving Crowder.
The physicality continued later in the 2nd quarter when Evan Turner wrapped up LeBron on a fast break.
Turner was issued a flagrant 1 for the foul, which in my opinion was going to far. Sure, it was a hard foul. But that’s what you want. You don’t want a player to foul and let his opponent get an and-1. It was a good foul from Turner, and it’s a shame he was called for a flagrant.
Cleveland led Boston 56-48 at the end of the first half. If they can hold onto the lead and win the game, they will take a 3-0 series lead.
