With the most recent win by the Boston Celtics, they have put themselves in the 8 seed, for now. Evan Turner finished with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting along with grabbing 10 rebounds and handing out 12 assists in 40 minutes of action. It was Turner’s second career triple-double and and second of the season. His role with Boston seems to be solidified as the main ball handler, creating and distributing for others.
It’s something that was a longtime coming when he signed with the Celtics in the offseason. Since Rajon Rondo got sent out of Boston, Evan Turner has restored his identity he had back in his college days.
The fight for the 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, is a mess. Boston currently sits .5 game ahead of the Charlotte Hornets, 1 game ahead of the Indiana Pacers and 1.5 games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets. By the way, every team is at least 8 games under .500 with under 15 games to play.
I’m not sure if the team that gets in the 8 seed will actually want it but they might end up backing into it based on the recent horrid performances of some teams. Pacers, Hornets and Nets are all 4-6 in their last 10 games including the Pacers who have lost 6 straight. Don’t forget the Nets also, who are quite possibly the leagues worst home team. Let’s not leave out the Hornets who have the hardest schedule remaining of their final 13 games.
Evan Turner’s triple-double actually will stick, unlike another triple-double recently by Russell Westbrook.
