New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon had quite the up and down day against the Los Angeles Clippers. It was reported earlier before the game that Gordon would come off the bench for disciplinary reasons. He was late for a team meeting but with the Pelicans being in win now mode he still ended up playing 37 minutes and started the game after the half.
Gordon finished with 23 points (7-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, two boards and a one less tooth. When he was taking Matt Barnes to the lane he lost his footing after a Barnes foul and went face first into the hardwood.
This isn’t the first time Gordon has messed up his grill playing basketball. Back in 2007 during his freshman debut at Indiana, Gordon was inadvertently struck in the mouth by a defender and his tooth was left chipped. He went on to finish that game with a mouth guard and dropped 24 points leading his then ranked #9 Hoosiers to a win.
He wasn’t this fortunate this time around considering his messed up grill came with a loss. With the Thunder beating Miami earlier the Pelicans are now in a deeper hole to dig themselves out of to make the playoffs. The Pelicans take on the Rockets next Wednesday hoping for a win.
