Emmanuel Mudiay has had an up and down rookie season. The Denver Nuggets point guard has shown flashes where he has seemed like one of the highest-potential young players in the league, but has also struggled in many respects, namely his shooting.
On Wednesday, Mudiay added a tally mark to the positive section of his first year in the league. The young star had a strong showing against the Philadelphia 76ers scoring 27 points on 10-23 shooting, including 4-5 from three, and adding eleven rebounds and four assists to lead his team.
But Mudiay’s biggest contribution came at the end of the game. With the Nuggets down two, Mudiay corralled the loose ball nearly at half-court and launched it at the rim. Of course, it was a swish, giving the Nuggets the 104-103 win at the buzzer and leaving fans dumbfounded.
For the rookie point guard, it was an incredible moment and one to build off of as he hopes to find stability and consistency to finish his first year in the league strongly.
Mudiay never played college basketball, opting instead to play professionally in China for one year, but on Wednesday he gave himself a taste of March Madness with a buzzer-beater and a win.
