In the first half of the Wizards Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 1 against the Atlanta Hawks, Drew Gooden has been playing phenomenally, and has been giving the Wizards exactly what they need off of the bench. Gooden has been scoring and rebounding the ball well, and has also been giving the Wizards the spark they need off of the bench to help bring the Wizards back into the game. Randy Wittman has been giving Gooden a lot more time than he usually does, which can hopefully get the starters ready to compete for the rest of the game.
Gooden showed all of the hustle he has brought throughout the season on this play, where he came from behind and swatted Paul Millsap all the way back to halfcourt. The play stopped Millsap from an easy dunk which would have given the Hawks a 2 point lead. If every Wizard could bring the same intensity Gooden has brought so far, the Wizards would be in the driving seat.
