The hustle Drew Gooden has given the Wizards over the past few games, and especially in the 93-86 playoff win over Toronto, has been the spark Washington has needed off the bench. Gooden is often one of the team’s top rebounders even in games he comes off the bench. Bench play is always a key to winning games, but production off the bench is that much more important once playoff time rolls in.
Gooden found the energy to get all he way up to block the ball Jonas Valanciunas was trying to dunk. Bringing the effort he always manages to bring, Gooden even grabbed the rebound after he rejected Valanciunas and robbed the Raptor fans of an opportunity to bring the house down. If Gooden can stay off of posters and continue to bring this energy off the bench, he may become a huge part of the Wizards bench rotation in a playoff series that may be one of his last.
