VIDEO: Dirk Nowitzki Moves To 7th All-Time On The NBA Scoring List
The Dallas Mavericks are on a roll and Dirk Nowitzki keeps climbing the all-time scoring ladder.
Dirk passed Moses Malone to become 7th all-time on the NBA scoring list with this three-pointer in the Mavs’ overtime win in Brooklyn last night. The shot was very Dirk. It came off of some two-man action with, who else, Rajon Rondo and Nowtizki nailed it in rhythm and with a hand in his face. The shot would put Dallas up by eight with 36 seconds left to seal the win. Nowtizki finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Dirk Nowitzki is now at 27,410 points in his 17-year career. He’s passed Hakeem Olajuwon, Elvin Hayes, and now Moses Malone on the scoring list this season. Passing Hakeem made Dirk the highest-scoring foreign-born player in league history.
There’s still a healthy 1,200 points between Dirk and Shaquille O’Neal at no. 6. Nowitzki, 36, is still playing incredibly efficient at over 18 points per game in under 30 minutes per contest. Assuming he can stay healthy, it’s reasonable to assume that Dirk can sniff out Shaq next season.
