The future of DeMarcus Cousins in Sacramento is in constant flux. He’s in trade rumors one week, and the next week he’s happy as can be in Northern California. So given the uncertainty of Boogie’s future with the team, when a rumor about the Kings being interested in signing him to a long-term extension started floating around, the skepticism also came with it.
The local Sacramento media took time after a recent game to ask Cousins about his interest in remaining in Sacramento with a possible new designated player contract which could exceed $200 million, thanks to a new CBA rule. Cousins quickly confirmed his interest in remaining with the team, but then he turned the tables and showed that fun side he often keeps hidden.
It’s critical to note that the two reporters Cousins singled out to question are two reporters from the Sacramento Bee he’s had some past problems with. Ailene Voisin and Andy Furillo of the Sacramento Bee are two writers who have often displeased Cousins. Furillo, in particular, was the subject of a recent Cousins outburst which was caught on tape and showed the All-Star big man confront the writer in the locker room.
