DeMarcus Cousins notched his second straight triple-double in a 101-95 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. 2 of his 24 points came on this shot where Cousins drove top the basket, and evaded the defense enough to be able to throw up this layup. It somehow went in even though Cousins had his head down, and was being double teamed by Anthony Davis and Dante Cunningham.
The big man was showing some flexibility and hang time that likely even surprised some Sacramento fans. Everybody knows Cousins can dominate in the paint, but this finesse seems to be a brand new skill. If some of his teammates could be making incredible plays like this one, the Kings would maybe be in a better situation for the postseason.
The two straight triple-doubles help Cousins improve his season statistics to 24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.78 blocks, and 1.53 steals per game. The improvement from season to season for Cousins could land him an MVP award sometime in the near future, assuming the Kings find a way to win more basketball games than they have over his tenure.
