Being a projected top 5 pick can elevate your confidence, sometimes beyond belief. We heard from Stanley Johnson out of Arizona, another top 5 projected pick, who recently said he’s the best player in the draft.
That’s where Ohio State guard D’Angelo Russell comes in. He decided to throw his name in the running for the best player in the draft alongside Johnson. Two potential bonafide stars in this draft saying they’re the best is good for competition purposes and it helps the players confidence levels as well.
Unfortunately for Russell and Johnson, it is expected that either Karl Anthony-Towns out of Kentucky or Duke’s Jahlil Okafor will be one of the top 2 picks. There’s no doubt Russell and Johnson will both get looks by whoever lands the top overall pick but the chances of them actually getting that distinct honor of being the top selection overall, well it might be a longshot.
