Timofey Mozgov getting sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this year almost seemed too good to be true for the Cavs and Mozgov. It was bring a proven rim protector to the Cavaliers and rekindling a successful partnership. Cavs head coach David Blatt coached Mozgov on the Russian national team so they have a relationship already built.
Mozgov knows Blatt’s system coming into the team, he’s joining LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and to top it all off, he can speak his native Russian to coach Blatt. What’s not to enjoy?
Well now Mozgov has been playing very well with the Cavs. He’s gotten so comfortable with the team now that he’s speaking his native Russian during a sideline interview. He knows english and he unexpectedly turned to his native language to answer the reporter’s question.
You have to give the reporter some credit though, she initially just rolled with it, as if she completely understood every word of what Mozgov was saying. Once Mozgov realized what he had done midway through answering the second question in English, the reactions were priceless and all they could do is just laugh about it.
