Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen lived up to his nickname in the Heat’s battle with the Magic. Mario Chalmers drove the paint and threw a pass from behind the hoop to Birdman for this monster one-handed slam. Birdman threw that one down hard, and showed us just how he can still fly at age 36.
The Heat won the game 100-93, and Chris Andersen had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mario Chalmers had 3 assists in the game. The Heat’s star player tonight was big man Hassan Whiteside. He finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Hassan also had 5 blocks to help his campaign for the Defensive Player of the Year award. Dwyane Wade also scored 22 points in the Heat’s victory.
On the other side, Victor Oladipo and Tobias Harris helped the Magic to stay competitive with their cross-state rival. Oladipo pitched in a game-high 30 points for the Magic while Harris scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the loss.
While the Magic have been eliminated from playoff contention for a while, the Heat are still in the hunt. The Heat need to win out and hope that the Nets and Pacers both lose their last few games. They need to win two more games like they did tonight so that they can still have a chance at making the playoffs.
