Chauncey Billups has one of the underrated great careers in NBA history. He’s a NBA champion, an NBA Finals MVP, a 5-time All-Star and one of the best shooters ever.
His career didn’t start off too hot though. From 1997 until 2002 he bounced around the league with 4 different teams until he found his home in Detroit with the Pistons. He went on to have a great career with both the Pistons and then the Denver Nuggets.
That’s where things became more interesting for Billups. Both for his career and his personal life. In the above video from an interview Chauncey did with Dan LeBatard, Bomani Jones and Dan’s father, ‘Papi’ for the ‘Highly Questionable’ show on ESPN, Chauncey goes into detail with a few of those interesting moments.
From his arguments with Larry Brown when they were both on the Pistons to his time saving J.R. Smith’s life from an attacking Kenyon Martin when all three were on the Denver Nuggets to even one of the biggest draft mistakes ever, when the Pistons selected Darko Milicic with the second overall pick. Chauncey talks about it all.
