As a competitor in sports, if you don’t come into every game and competition believing in your mind that you are better than your opponent and that you can beat your opponent, you will lose. Confidence in yourself, will spark confidence in the way you play and push you to be better, and that goes for everything in life. Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks have continuously struggled, season after season, and after you struggle for so long, it’s hard to keep your confidence high. Yesterday, Carmelo Anthony sat down with the Dan Patrick Show and discussed some NBA issues, his earlier life in the NBA and a funny tattoo story with his mom.
The topic of Stephen Curry mentioning that he was the best scorer was brought to Carmelo’s attention and when asked whether or not he believes he’s a better scorer than Stephen Curry or LeBron James he responded with “I believe so.” Check it out (Via Dan Patrick Show)”
It’s really needless to say that it’s obviously not true, Carmelo Anthony is not a better scorer than Stephen Curry or LeBron James (although some may argue the latter). Stephen Curry who, funny enough, led the NBA in scoring this year, and is basically a unanimous MVP for this season, isn’t shaking in his boots about Carmelo’s comments. I’m sure LeBron James isn’t either, he’s focused on the Atlanta Hawks and not what his friend Anthony has to say right now, so what he said isn’t a big deal. The New York Knicks aren’t in the NBA Playoffs and this doesn’t stir up and in-series rivalries, but it tells us one thing. Carmelo Anthony is still very confident about what he can do on the basketball court. He mentioned that he can play at a high level for 4-5 years, which is extremely confident as well. Now he has to put that confidence to good use, by playing like a leader and leading the Knicks to the Playoffs next year.
