Billy Donovan is interested in coming to the NBA, but will he actually leave Florida? He has been offered a job before (from the Magic), which he took, but he later backed out of it to stay at Florida. Also, just a year ago he said he was happy to be at Florida. The Wizards’ shooting guard, Bradley Beal, played for Donovan when he was at Florida, and he recently said that he definitely thinks Donovan will leave on the Dan Patrick Show.
“I agree with the rumors. I think he’ll definitely leave.”
Bradley then expands on why he thinks Donovan will come to the NBA, and says why his coaching styles would work for an NBA team. Bradley has good insight into the way Donovan thinks as he played for the Gators for one season.
Billy Donovan has been a solid coach at Florida, winning 467 games in his career and only losing 186 of them. He coached two championship teams in back-to-back years in 2006 and 2007. He has taken his teams to 14 NCAA Tournaments, 4 Final Fours, and two championships. Billy Donovan has been a solid coach at the University of Florida, and produced many NBA players like Beal, Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer, Nick Calathes and Chandler Parsons. Billy Donovan seems to be serious about potentially making the move to the NBA, but it is yet to be seen if he will be a great coach at both levels.
