(Laimbeer’s comments comparing LeBron James and Michael Jordan start at the 4:15 mark.)
Legendary Detroit Pistons ‘Bad Boy’ Bill Laimbeer has always had a track record of being outspoken and often going against the status quo. The former 4-time NBA All-Star and current New York Liberty coach played in an era in the NBA where hard hits were welcomed and big names were prominent. Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Hakeem Olajuwon were just some of the stars that Laimbeer’s Pistons had to go up against, so he does know a thing or 2 about the big stars.
The classic argument between LeBron or Jordan has no end in sight and it just continues to get more interesting when more and more people throw out their opinions for everyone to enjoy. Laimbeer took to The Dan Patrick Show to make a valid point. At times, it appears LeBron can do more, way more, than anyone on the court. He does it all time after time, passing the ball, rebounding and scoring but there is a small detriment to LeBron’s game. His shooting, especially as of late in the 2015 NBA Playoffs.
For Laimbeer to say that MJ wouldn’t take this 2015 Cleveland Cavaliers team to the NBA Finals, is actually comical. Jordan would’ve easily led this team to the finals and probably a lot easier than LeBron did, based off the fact that Jordan would be able to shoot at a better rate and with ease. LeBron struggled to hit a jumpshot at times in all of his series, especially from 3-point range. Jordan could just put the team on his back and not need a dramatic collapse to his knees at the end of a game to go along with it.
The debate won’t be over anytime soon but the valid points brought up by an NBA great, who doesn’t have the best track record with Michael Jordan, can’t go unnoticed or unrecognized.
