Anthony Davis had one of the most historically impressive performances, cementing his place in the record books. The New Orleans Pelicans big man put his team on his shoulders, scoring 59 points and grabbing 20 rebounds en route to a win against the Detroit Pistons.
The Brow’s 59 points were not only the most scored by anyone this season, but together with the rebounding placed him among the all-time greats in historic performances. Davis became only the second player since 1983-84 to put up at least those type of numbers after Shaq’s 61-26 performance in 2000.
Davis also became only the third player in that timespan with 50+ points and 20+ rebounds with the aforementioned Shaq and Chris Webber joining him. The 22 year old additionally became the second youngest player ever to put up those same numbers while becoming the youngest ever with 59 points in a game.
Davis’ potential to become the best player in the league is well-known. Though he has had some struggles this season after a phenomenal year in 2014-15, AD has still been fantastic. Despite the lack of team success, Davis is still putting up some of the best stats in the league. On Sunday, the big man once again showed his abilities, this time in a historic performance.
