The New Orleans Pelicans had quite a final day of the 2014-15 NBA regular season. They were up against great odds playing the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs. It was simple. They win and they’re in the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
Well at the end of the night they did it, the Pelicans beat out the Oklahoma City Thunder for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. It was a big win by the Pelicans, beating a San Antonio team that had a lot to play for. The Spurs needed to win to clinch home court advantage at least in the first round of the playoffs. Now with the loss, the Spurs San Antonio fall to a 6 seed, facing off with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Anthony Davis led his Pelicans team in the big win over the Spurs and they proceeded to celebrate in the locker room, as you would expect any team to do. They were shouting and dancing, highlighted by a ‘dougie’ and ‘whip’ by Davis along with a special appearance from team owner, Tom Benson.
But it was a celebration that was short-lived as they quickly snapped back to reality and remembered who their matchup is in the first round. The juggernaut known as the Golden State Warriors, a team with a 39-2 home record this season.
The problem is, during that celebration, someone mentioned the word ‘scrimmage’ and the same memories came back from a few weeks ago. Those same memories of the Warriors saying that they were treating their game with the Pelicans as a ‘scrimmage’. Anthony Davis and his team didn’t take too kindly to those comments and beat the Warriors in their home gym the same night those comments were made.
In the video, at about the 2:45 mark, you can hear someone off to the side yell, “Let’s go ahead & get this scrimmage!”.
Well, Warriors reserve big man, Marreese Speights caught wind of these comments.
Haha them boys better watch what they say

This ‘scrimmage’ is going to get really, really good on Saturday at 12 pm (or 3pm Eastern). I wonder how many points Anthony Davis, in his first tango with the playoffs, will need to score in order to even have the Pelicans sniff a win in this series. Let’s just say, I’m sure a lot of people would expect a sweep instead of a close series.
